Amitabh Bachchan to appear in Gujarati film Fakt Mahilao Mate

Amitabh Bachchan will make a cameo as a Gujarati character for the first time in producer Anand Pandit’s upcoming film Fakt Mahilao Mate. This is also reportedly his first appearance in a Gujarati movie.

The film stars Yash Soni and Deeksha Joshi and is directed by Jay Bodas. 

The last two times Bachchan acted in Pandit’s productions was in Sarkar 3 (2017) and Chehre (2021).

The producer said that Bachchan had instantly agreed to act in the movie. “It is getting tough for me to envision any project without Amitji who has been a friend, mentor and guide to me in so many ways over the years,” said Pandit in a statement.

“The moment I asked him if he would do a cameo in Fakt Mahilao Mate, he instantly said, ‘Yes!’ He did not ask to hear the script or to know who the director was and came to the set. This is the first time that Amitji is playing a Gujarati character in a Gujarati film.” 

Pandit said that Bachchan’s presence delighted everyone on the sets, where he heard the script for the first time. “When Amitji heard the script on the sets, he loved the witty twists and laughed heartily during the shoot. He was right on time as usual and finished his scenes with clockwork precision. Everyone was surprised by his ease with Gujarati but few people know that he is a linguist and effortlessly picks up the nuances of different languages,” he added. 

Recalling a memorable scene of the veteran actor, Pandit said, “I remember watching him in Laawaris (1981) where he spoke multiple languages in a comic scene and little did I know that one day he would face the camera for my own Gujarati film! As always, he dazzled everyone with his professionalism and charisma.”
