Abhijit Panse's Ulaagaddi to finally see light of the day


The film, which is based on Shivraj Waichal's play of the same name, was announced in 2015.

Politician-turned-filmmaker Abhijit Panse made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed neo-noir Rege (2014), which went on to win multiple awards.

In 2015, Panse announced his second directorial venture, Ulaagaddi, which was being produced by Shilpa Raut and Sandeep Raut.

Panse then went on to direct Thackeray (2019) the biopic of the late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. 

There were rumours that Ulaagaddi had been shelved, but at the trailer launch of his upcoming web-series RaanBaazaar, Pense revealed the status of his film. "Ulaagaddi is definitely not shelved. We are planning to complete and release the film by next year," he said.

The film is based on Shivraj Waichal's play of the same name, which revolves around a man and a young girl who are stuck on a tree after a huge flood has devastated everything.

Meanwhile, Panse's digital debut RaanBaazaar will be streamed on Planet Marathi OTT from 20 May.

The political thriller series stars Tejaswini Pandit, Prajakta Mali, Sachin Khedekar, Urmila Kanitkar Kothare, Makarand Anaspure, Mohan Agashe, Mohan Joshi, Anant Jog and Vaibhav Mangle.
