Vijay, who was seen recently on the big screen in the Tamil film Beast (2022), is all set to make his Telugu debut with the upcoming bilingual project with filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally.

The yet-untitled film is currently dubbed Thalapathy 66 and shooting is underway in Hyderabad, capital of Telangana state.

On Wednesday, Vijay called on Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragati Bhavan, his official residence. The chief minister, popularly known by his initials as KCR, felicitated the superstar with a shawl.

Pictures from the meeting have gone viral on social media. The meeting triggered speculation in political circles as Vijay has been planning his political innings for quite some time.

Meanwhile, SS Thaman has been signed up as the film’s composer. He will be working on a Vijay film for the very first time.

The project also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sarath Kumar, Sangeetha, Yogi Babu, Shaam and Srikanth.

The film is slated to be released later this year. Upon completion of this project, Vijay will reunite with his Master (2021) director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a new project.

In the action film Beast, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Vijay played an intel agent on a mission to rescue people held hostage in a mall. Inspired by the Bruce Willis classic Die Hard (1988), Beast was released in cinemas on 13 April and went on to gross over Rs200 crore despite the mixed reviews.
