Anubhav Sinha’s next film Anek (2022), starring Ayushmann Khurrana, revolves around a police officer who is sent to restore peace in the northeastern part of the country. The film also highlights the discrimination against people from the region.
The film will see Naga model Andrea Kevichusa making her Hindi film debut opposite Khurrana. The leading man shared the film's new poster introducing his co-star.
The actress is set to play a national-level boxer named Aido in the film. Seemingly, director Sinha was quite impressed with her performance. He said, “There couldn't be a better choice for the lead role in Anek than Andrea. Her northeastern roots have added originality to the story.
"Apart from that, Andrea has sweated a lot for this character. Her tough looks and phenomenal acting have helped her embody the character well.”
Several actresses like Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, Kriti Sanon, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Sayani Gupta and Huma Qureshi welcomed her warmly to the movies on Instagram, highlighting the film’s subject and embracing unity in diversity.
Kevichusa was initially scared that she would not be able to deliver a good performance. Talking about her experience on the set, she said, “It finally dawned on me that I would be working with creative people who deliver as well as they expected me to. But Ayushmann and Anubhav sir created such a comfortable environment for me on the set that I felt no added pressure to perform or do anything that was beyond my capabilities, being a newcomer in this field."
The model-turned-actress, who is proud of her Nagaland roots, believes that her uniqueness has set her apart from other models. Anek is set for release on 27 May.
