Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has wrapped up the shoot of the biopic of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.

Dosanjh shared the news on Instagram, describing the role as the toughest and most challenging of his career.

He added that the wrap of the film had been an emotional moment for him and expressed gratitude to producer and casting director Honey Trehan.

Following the anti-Sikh pogrom of 1984, countless Sikh youths had started to disappear. Khalra investigated these disappearances and worked on the cremation of unidentified bodies of men killed in fake encounters.

However, in 1995, Khalra disappeared. It later emerged that he had been murdered. Six policemen were convicted of his killing. Khalra’s work was pivotal in bringing to light the state-sponsored killing of innocent youths in Punjab.

She laid out her reasons for giving them the rights while outlining the conditions under which they had agreed to make the film.
