Actor Vaibhav Tatwawadi, who enjoys a large fan-following in Marathi cinema with films like Surajya (2014) and Coffee Ani Barach Kahi (2015). will be seen next in the SonyLIV show Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi (2022) playing the titular Nirmal Pathak.
The trailer for the web-series looks good, which is why there is anticipation around the show which is set to be premiered on 27 May.
The show will see Nirmal returning home to his village after studying in Delhi and challenging the age-old systems and patriarchal beliefs in his family and in the village as he tries to bring about a change for the better.
While the rest of the show's cast like Alka Amin, Vineet Kumar and Garima Singh seem to have mastered the colloquial Bhojpuri accent, Tatwawadi had to stick to pure Hindi, though he told Cinestaan.com he loves to pick up new accents for his roles.
Tatwawadi recently worked on a Haryanvi accent for an upcoming Hindi film. “I love working on accents," he said. "I did a project a few months back for which I learnt the Haryanvi accent. Though I cannot reveal much since it’s in the initial stages. But I love learning different languages. But in Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi, Rahul Pandey [the show's writer and co-director] was sure he just wanted pure Hindi from me.”
Tatwawadi will also star in a film titled Baat Itni Baki Hai, directed by the National award-winning director Makarand Mane, who made Ringan (2017). Actress Anjali Patil will be seen opposite him in the film.
Asked if the film will be released in theatres or on an OTT platform, the actor said, “We are yet to decide that, but I think the set-up of the film is more conducive to OTT.” Work on the project has been wrapped up and it is ready for release, so more details should be out soon.
