Five years after announcing his directorial venture, Indian music legend AR Rahman finally premiered Le Musk exclusively at Cannes XR in collaboration with Marché du Film, the film market, at the 75th Festival de Cannes.

Rahman is part of the Indian delegation to Cannes led by Union information & broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur. He was joined at the screening by actor Guy Burnet, who plays a musician in Le Musk, as well as Ravindra Velhal, Intel’s global content technologist who served as executive producer and VR technology director for the movie.

The Grammy-winning composer was also joined at the event by the likes of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mame Khan and Ricky Kej.

About his debut short film, Rahman said, "Le Musk has been several years in the making with collaborators worldwide; we have aimed to create an unprecedented, subtle sensory cinematic surrealism. Creating a feature-length cinema VR experience that pushes the boundaries of storytelling and incorporates multiple senses was a guiding force for me. Aroma and music together bring warm memories."

Meanwhile, despite the lacklustre response to his latest film album Heropanti 2 (2022, Hindi), the composer is ready to return with a bang to Indian cinema with upcoming projects such as Malayankunju (2022, Malayalam), Maidaan (2022, Hindi), Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 (2022, Tamil), Cobra (2022, Tamil) and Iravin Nizhal (2022, Tamil).
