Sabbir Khan's Nikamma, which is due to be released exactly a month from now, promises to be a fun family entertainer. The feature stars Abhimanyu Dassani, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Shirley Setia.
The film's trailer opens with the introduction of Abhimanyu’s character, Adi, who is the living definition of a ‘nikamma’ or good-for-nothing. This loafer's life mostly consists of having a blast with friends. He soon meets a beautiful girl (Setia) and thus begins a beautiful love story.
But things change for Adi with the arrival of his sister-in-law (Shetty Kundra), the 'most gorgeous villain', who makes him do all the household chores. But when a hitman (Abhimanyu Singh) threatens his sister in law, this lazy guy turns into an action hero with style and attitude.
The second part of the trailer mostly focuses on Dassani's acrobatic and fighting skills. The film is a remake of Nani and Sai Pallavi's Telugu film MCA Middle Class Abbayi (2017) and it looks like the makers have created a scene-to-scene remake.
Just like the original Telugu film, Nikamma seems to have ample comedy, romance and action. Dassani looks convincing as an action hero, but not so much as a romantic hero.
Produced by Sony Pictures International Productions and Sabbir Khan Films, Nikamma is set to be released in theatres on 17 June.
