Nayanthara’s upcoming Tamil film O2 (2022) will skip theatres and be released directly on Disney+ Hotstar.
The film’s teaser was unveiled today and going by the visuals it looks like a race-against-time survival thriller set inside a bus.
Directed by first-time filmmaker GS Viknesh, the film will see Nayanthara fight for the survival of her son who is sick and travelling with oxygen support.
Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, this is the third Nayanthara-starrer to opt for a direct-to-OTT premiere, skipping a theatrical release.
The teaser shows that most of the film is set inside a bus that has fallen into a deep pit; the passengers need to stay calm to survive. Nayanthara tells her son they have 12 hours to survive. The boy is unwell and on oxygen support.

Nayanthara was seen recently in boyfriend Vignesh Shivn directorial venture, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal (2022), a romantic comedy co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Sethupathi.
In the film, Nayanthara played a character called Kanmani Ganguly, who loves in fall in love with Vijay Sethupathi’s character which is loved by Samantha’s character at the same time.
Nayanthara is currently awaiting the release of Telugu film Godfather (2022), starring Chiranjeevi. She plays his sister in the movie, which is a remake of the Mohanlal-starrer Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer (2019).
Nayanthara recently turned producer with Vignesh Shivn. Their film Koozhangal aka Pebbles was recently picked for the Shanghai International Film Festival. The film tells the story of a father-son duo, broken by poverty, as they seek to find their way in life. It features only newcomers and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It has been directed by PS Vinothraj.
