RRR to be re-released in 100-plus US theatres for the night of 1 June

Directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, the Telugu film became a runaway hit when it was released in March.

SS Rajamouli’s successful and acclaimed Roudram Ranam Rudhiram aka RRR (2022) is all set to be re-released in the US for one night on 1 June, as reported by Tthe Los Angeles Times newspaper. The film will be screened on that day in more than 100 theatres across the States.

The publication said there has been a lot of demand for RRR and the film will be released in its original Telugu language with English subtitles. The movie is presented in the US by Variance Films and Potentate Films in association with Sarigama Cinemas.

Reacting to the news, Rajamouli said in a statement, “America has embraced RRR as its own. The love that the American audience has shown our film has been gratifying. Excited that they get to relive the experience at the re-release. Thanks to Variance and Potentate.” 

An excerpt from the report said, 'The June event may be the last chance for US moviegoers to see RRR on the big screen in its original uncut Telugu version, with some theatres featuring a Dolby Atmos sound mix.'

RRR is set in 1920s India and tells the story of a tribal girl who is bought by a British couple. Bheem (Jr NTR), who belongs to the same tribe, is given the task of freeing her and  bringing her back. Ram (Ram Charan), who works for the British police, is sent on a mission to arrest Bheem. The film is a fictitious tale woven around two real freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
