Taapsee Pannu’s Outsiders Films and Viacom18 Studios, in association with BLM Pictures, have announced the multi-starrer Dhak Dhak (2023). To be directed by Tarun Dudeja, the film will star Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza and Sanjana Sanghi. Dudeja has written the film with Parijat Joshi.
The first-look picture from the film sees the four actresses all geared up to venture on their mission.
Speaking about the project, Pannu said in a statement, “At Outsiders Films we aim to produce films that are meaningful and entertaining. We have attempted to give audiences a visual experience that they have rarely seen on screen.
"Dhak Dhak narrates the story of four women who realize that freedom has to be owned and never given. Viacom18 Studios has been a crucial part of my journey in the film industry from Chashme Baddoor (2013), Shabaash Mithu (2022) and now to Dhak Dhak. In Viacom18 Studios and Ajit [Andhare], we have a partner who has great foresight towards differentiated cinema. I am sure this ride will be an enriching one.”
Throwing light on the film's subject, Viacom18 Studios chief operating officer (COO) Andhare said, “Dhak Dhak is a heartwarming story of four women undertaking a trip breaking out of their cocoons and discovering themselves through this journey of introspection and adventure. This was the perfect script and resonates well with the DNA of our storytelling.”
Pranjal Khandhdiya of Outsiders Films added, “The partnership with Viacom18 Studios is a significant step for Outsiders Films as we embark on a new journey and bring back the best of experiences on the big screen for audiences. Dhak Dhak is a first-of-its-kind story about four strong characters and a memorable bike ride in picturesque locations. Dhak Dhak is sure to captivate our audiences.”
As a producer, Pannu also has Blurr in the making, which stars herself and Gulshan Devaiah.
Dhak Dhak will be releasing in theatres in 2023.
