After directing Prasad Oak in the political drama Dharmaveer (2022), Pravin Tarde is now in front of the camera as a fearless warrior with superb sword-fighting skills in the historical action drama Sarsenapati Hambirrao.
The trailer begins with the heroic introduction of Hambirrao Mohite in slow motion.as a muscular and bare-chested Tarde emerges from the water and takes on several soldiers all by himself. He then joins Chhatrapati Shivaji's son and successor Sambhaji (Gashmeer Mahajani) to save the Maratha kingdom from the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb (Mohan Joshi) and the Adilshahi general Sarja Khan (Raqesh Bapat).
The trailer delivers a high-octane action odyssey with lots of brutal imagery. Given the budgetary constraints of Marathi films, the action scenes look pretty convincing and grand.
Tarde with his muscular physique and trademark dialogue delivery immediately grabs attention. But the scene stealer is Mahajani. The actor looks perfect in the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji. It appears that Mahajani also plays the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji. Both he and Tarde flaunt their swordsmanship on the battlefield.
The action-packed visceral trailer raises expectations from the film. It remains to be seen if the film can meet those expectations.
Hambirrao Mohite was a military commander in Shivaji's army who later served under his son Sambhaji as well. His daughter Tarabai was married to Shivaji's second son and Sambhaji's brother and successor as king, Rajaram.
Written and directed by Tarde himself, the film has been produced by Sandeep Mohite Patil, Dharmendra Bora and Saujanya Nikam.
Sarsenapati Hambirrao is set to be released in theatres on 27 May. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
