In Arindam Sil’s Tirandaj Shabor (2022), police detective Shabor Dasgupta, played by Saswata Chatterjee, investigates the murder of a man named Sitanath Samaddar.
Tirandaj Shabor is Sil’s fourth Shabor Dasgupta film after Ebar Shabor (2015), Egoler Chokh (2016) and Ashche Abar Shabor (2018).
Samaddar is murdered in a taxicab on a night of torrential rain. Shabor Dasgupta sees Sumit Ghoshal (Nigel Akkara) aka Bulu as the prime suspect. But Bulu coldly brushes off the allegations against him.
As the detective continues his investigation, he comes in contact with more people associated with the dead man.
While in the trailer there are some blurry visuals of director Sil’s character trying to strangle some people in the same way the murder was committed, Shabor notes that if suspects are let loose, they tend to make mistakes.
But while Shabor seems convinced that Bulu is the perpetrator of the crime and he just has to find the evidence to nail him, the latter baldly assures the detective he is wasting his time.
Much like Akkara’s dialogue delivery, the trailer seems to lack the energy of a thrilling murder mystery. Check it out below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film. Tirandaj Shabor is slated for a theatrical release on 27 May.
