Collaborations seem to be the new trend in Hindi cinema, though only time will tell if they prove to be beneficial for all those involved. But when two production houses collaborate, one can certainly expect their projects to be mounted on a larger scale. And with various creative minds involved, one can hope for good quality cinema.

Which is why it is exciting to learn that T-Series and Wakaoo Films have struck a seven-film deal which will involve projects from different genres. Wakaao Films is led by Vipul D Shah, Rajesh Bahl and Ashwin Varde. Interestingly, Varde and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series had last teamed up together for Kabir Singh (2019), which became a blockbuster hit.

The seven films which are part of this deal will be helmed by Mudassar Aziz, Shivam Nair, Amit Rai, Ashish R Mohan, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, Satramm Ramani and Gautam Vasudev Menon. While some of these films are touted to be big-budget tent-pole films, others are moderate-budget films that promise rich content.

Talking about this collaboration, Bhushan Kumar, managing director of T-Series, said, “We have some really interesting films with unique storylines, powerful actors and credible directors. Between us, the idea is to create content that is strong and credible.”

Echoing the sentiment, Shah said the projects have amazing scripts which will be taken to the next level by the "visionary" directors working on them.

Ashwin Varde added, “It’s almost like a homecoming since I have worked with Bhushan Kumar and T-Series earlier on my last film, Kabir Singh. We are hoping to repeat the same magic in times to come. What is really fascinating is the sheer diversity of subjects we have to offer.”

Rajesh Bahl said such alliances are very important. “From a strategic point of view, this is an amazing opportunity for both of us to create significant scale and value by collaborating on a long-term basis," the producer said. "The possibilities are limitless and the impact of this alliance on the industry will be paramount.”

The bar of expectation seems to have been raised for viewers with all these names coming together. T-Series has a few other collaborations going with production houses and filmmakers and with this latest deal it’s safe to say the business of cinema is back in full swing.
