On Vijay Deverakonda’s 33rd birthday yesterday, the makers of his keenly awaited film Liger (2022) shared a lyrical teaser, the first of its kind, from the film.
Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and the director's Puri Connects.
The song, called ‘The Liger Hunt’, is a peppy rap number sung with a good deal of energy by Farhad Bhiwandiwala. Composer Vikram Montrose has added some exciting tunes that gel well with the tough character of Deverakonda. The lyrics, which are passable, are written by Bhiwandiwala, Shekhar Astitwa and Montrose.
More importantly, ‘The Liger Hunt’ gives the first glimpse of Deverakonda’s character from the film. The footage indicates that the protagonist hails from a lower-middle-class background. He is passionate about boxing and he does odd jobs to keep his dream alive. The video also has a serious scene where Deverakonda’s character has an ugly fight with another boxer in the ring.
Liger sees Ananya Panday star opposite Deverakonda. Interestingly, the film also stars real-life boxer Mike Tyson in the role of a boxer. This is the first time the former heavyweight champion will be seen in an Indian movie.
Liger will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada on 25 August. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to see the film.
