The release of Mission Majnu (2022), starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna, is being pushed back to 10 June from its previously announced date of 13 May.

The producers of the film, RSVP Movies, announced the new date today. Mission Majnu is directed by ad filmmaker Shantanu Bagchi and will feature South star Mandanna making her Hindi debut.

The espionage thriller would have gone up against the Ranveer Singh-starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar (2022) and Anubhav Sinha’s Anek (2022), featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, both of which are due to be released on 13 May.

Now it will compete against the Dharma Productions comedy Govinda Naam Mera (2022), starring Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani.

Announced in December 2020, the period film is inspired by events that took place in the 1970s. It follows one of India’s most daring RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) missions in the heart of Pakistan, according to the makers.

Filming for the period feature began in Lucknow last February.

Written by Parveez Shaikh, Aseem Arrora and Sumit Batheja, Mission Majnu is produced by RSVP's Ronnie Screwvala and Guilty By Association’s Amar Butala and Garima Mehta.
