Dulquer Salmaan’s Salute to be premiered on SonyLIV on 18 March

Dulquer Salmaan’s Malayalam serial-killer thriller Salute will skip theatres and go directly on SonyLIV on 18 March, it was announced yesterday.

Salute features Dulquer as a cop. The film has been written by Bobby and Sanjay and directed by Rosshan Andrrews. It was shot by Aslam K Purayil and has music by Jakes Bejoy.

The film's trailer hints at a gritty investigation thriller with Dulquer at the helm. It opens with a police officer telling his team to follow Dulquer’s character. The officer says he needs a full report on his whereabouts and whomever he meets and talks to as and when it happens.

It is understood from the trailer that an investigation begins after a criminal is sent to jail. The film also stars Diana Penty, Manoj K Jayan and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy.

This will be the second release of 2022 for Dulquer after Hey Sinamika (2022) last week. It will also be the Malayalam star's maiden direct-to-OTT release.

Last year, Dulquer was seen in the Malayalam thriller Kurup (2021), based on the story of Kerala’s most wanted fugitive, Sukumara Kurup, who allegedly scripted his own death by murdering another man and made off with the insurance money on his own life. The film was directed by Srinath Rajendran.

The film, which also featured Sobhita Dhulipala and Indrajith Sukumaran, was dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu as well and did exceptionally well, going on to collect over Rs75 crore nett in its theatrical run.

Dulquer recently completed a gruelling nine-day schedule in Himachal Pradesh for one of his projects. The actor did not give any details of the project, however.
