My film Je Jon Thake Arale depicts conflict between dream and reality, says director Anirbed Chattopadhyay

The short film depicts the journey of a struggling make-up artist who is striving to make a name for himself.

Anirbed Chattopadhyay’s short film Je Jon Thake Arale delineates the journey of a struggling make-up artist, who comes from a middle-class background.

Starring Premankur Bhattacharya, Sanjib Sarkar, Sayanti Banerjee, Rajib Sarkar, Paresh Mondal, Ramaprasad Saha and Tanushree Dey Chakraborty, the film depicts the tragic reality of an overlooked artist.

According to Chattopadhyay, “Every artist loves his work as a child. But in return for the tireless work put in by artists who work behind the scenes, they only receive a handful of money and hardly ever get recognition.”

In the film, the protagonist strives tirelessly to make a name for himself in the industry. During his struggle, he hardly receives support from his family. “This short is not meant to entertain the audience but cater to intellectuals. The film brings alive the conflict of dream vs reality,” added the filmmaker.

The director is planning to release the film after submitting it to film festivals.
