Vidya Balan plays a journalist who is caught in a moral dilemma in the Amazon Prime Video film Jalsa.
The teaser gives nothing away in terms of plot or story. For the most part, we see the grim faces of Vidya and Shefali Shah accompanied by a rousing background score.
The clip begins with Vidya ordering someone to get working on a story right away. Shah seems to be playing a mother who is hiding something. Towards the end, an unknown voice declares, "These days, it’s better to hide the news than to say it."
Vidya's character seems to be going through some inner turmoil. The teaser also showcases some glimpses of the other characters from Jalsa.
Director Suresh Triveni has collaborated with Vidya on the critically acclaimed Tumhari Sulu (2017) and this is their second feature together.
The film also features Manav Kaul, Rohini Hattangadi, Iqbal Khan, Vidhatri Bandi, Shrikant Mohan Yadav, Shafeen Patel and Surya Kasibhatla.
Jalsa has been jointly produced by T-Series' Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar as well as Abundantia Entertainment's Vikram Malhotra and Shikhaa Sharma and Triveni.
Jalsa will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from 18 March.
