Akshay Kumar plays Prithviraj Chauhan while Manushi Chhillar, former Miss World 2017, makes her cinema debut as Princess Sanyogita, his wife.
Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt also play key parts as the poet Chand Bardai and the trusted saamant Kaka Kanha. respectively.
With the makers of Prithviraj advancing their release date, the film will now clash with Maidaan (2022), a biopic of independent India's first national football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, starring Ajay Devgn. The beleaguered production, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor, has already faced several delays and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last week, in an interview with Cinestaan.com, the producer had remarked about the clash with Prithviraj, “It is something we have to get used to," Boney Kapoor said. "I would have liked to not have a big film releasing close to my film, but we cannot help it. Maybe there will be another big film releasing after Prithviraj also? We cannot change it.”
It remains to be seen if Maidaan's release is now delayed again.
