In the trailer of Raajhorshee De’s upcoming multi-starrer film Abbar Kanchanjangha, members of the Deb family reunite at their ancestral home, Abhilaash, in Darjeeling for Christmas and look for a miracle that they believe always takes place in the realm of Kanchanjungha.

While the visuals of the mega family reunion make it difficult to keep track of so many characters, it gradually becomes evident that beneath the surface affability, the members have their individual agendas. After the initial phase of celebration subsides, the ugly face of self-interest begins to get exposed as Saswata Chatterjee’s character declares, “There is something rotten in the state of Denmark.”

Amid the scheming and manipulation, on a particular night, the members get into an ugly fight when Kaushik Sen’s character announces his proposal to sell off Abhilaash. Gaurav Chakrabarty appears to be playing a sly individual, who makes stark accusations against Sen's character and Rahul Banerjee comes across as a victim of circumstances who is tired of putting up a façade.

Tanushree Chakraborty seems more inclined towards brainwashing her family members for reasons unknown, but Arpita Chatterjee and Bidipta Chakraborty attempt to hold the family together with sound advice and empathy.

The trailer hints that De’s film is centred on the importance of the family and depicts how the members rise above their petty personal interests.

Abbar Kanchanjangha will be released in theatres on 1 April.
