Actor Ranveer Singh and information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur attended the India Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai. The two of them had a session where they discussed the possibility of India being the content hub of the continent.
Sharing his thoughts about the India Pavilion, Singh said, “Whatever little I saw, I think it is done beautifully. The effort that’s put behind everything that I saw so far, is amazing. A lot of the credit has to go to the team who put this up.”
When the actor was asked about his most challenging role, he said that working with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is always a challenge. “Every new role comes with a unique set of challenges, but working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been challenging as he pushes me beyond my boundaries and actual growth happens when you push yourself beyond limits. While it is very challenging to work with him, you come out as a much more evolved artist,” he said.
Speaking about India’s contribution to the field of filmmaking, Thakur said, “India has a lot to offer to the world, from the cosmic world to the cinema, from yoga to Ayurveda, new India, the start-ups and IT hubs. The AVGC [Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics] sector of India has the potential to grow as one of the largest industries in the world. India is a land of storytelling and the film industry is the soft power of India.”
Asked whether he finds time to watch films and which is his favourite Ranveer Singh movie, Thakur said, “I watch films while travelling. I saw 83 (2021) and loved the film. Ranveer did a brilliant job. I have watched Bajirao Mastani (2015) a few times and every time I watch it, I find it very entertaining.”
