Yash opens up on KGF: Chapter 2 clash with Thalapathy Vijay's Beast

The Kannada actor also spoke about viewing Indian cinema as a single entity.

This April, Yash's much-anticipated KGF: Chapter 2 and Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil movie Beast are set for a big clash. The latter film will be released on 13 April while the former will arrive in theatres a day later. Both actors are huge stars in their respective regional industries with legions of diehard fans.

Speaking of the clash at the trailer launch for KGF: Chapter 2, which took place on Sunday in Bangalore, Yash said, “It has to be 'KGF and Beast' and not 'KGF versus Beast'. This isn't an election where you have to vote for either, or one of the two should fail. This is cinema.

"Vijay sir is such a huge star and we should respect him. Ours is a pan-Indian film and we announced it eight months back. And they are aiming for a festive release there.

"Vijay sir is what he is because of what he has done in his life. His fans will celebrate his film and I am sure all Vijay sir fans will enjoy our film as well. The theatres will be split, but it's high time we think about collaboration."

At the same event, Yash spoke of viewing Indian cinema as a single entity. He said, "North, South, East, West, all these things are only for directions, so I think it's a very outdated concept. We are Indians and that’s the whole vision you have to accept in totality. It’s like that either it is one industry or it is not. I believe it is one Industry and high time we stop all these 'woods'. I think we should believe in the Indian film Industry and not who is making what from one particular part or region, and let’s celebrate cinema; that’s my view."

Written and directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF: Chapter 2, which has been in the making for the past three years, also stars Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj.

The sequel will be released in five languages — Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

KGF: Chapter 2 will also clash with Shahid Kapoor's awaited sports drama Jersey.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Beast co-stars Pooja Hegde.
