Divya Dutta wins AutHer award for second book The Stars in My Sky

Divya Dutta received a Special Recognition award for her second book The Stars in My Sky: Those who Brightened My Film Journey, published by Penguin Random House India, at the AutHer awards on 25 March in New Delhi.
The actress’s memoir talks about her mentors and muses, co-stars, directors and friends including veterans like Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, Yash Chopra, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar and Naseeruddin Shah as well as award-winning filmmakers such as Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Shyam Benegal, Rajkumar Hirani and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Dutt also spoke about actors Irrfan Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, who have helped her along her film journey.
Dutta said that the honour was special as her innings as a writer was recent. Before this, she penned her first work, the memoir Me and Maa as her debut. She said, “The gift of words is a legacy I inherited from my mother [Nalini Dutta] who while being a doctor wrote the most exquisite verses.”
She added, “It just calls out to me and I start writing, usually in between shots, letting the words flow naturally and straight from my heart. To be acknowledged and appreciated for it is truly special and will inspire me to continue going with the flow.”
The National award-winning actress also revealed that those she had written about in the book reacted with genuine warmth to their chapters when she sent them the manuscript for their approval. “That’s something which will remain unforgettable, like this award,” she said.
