SS Rajamouli’s epic period drama RRR is having a dream run at the box office. With appreciation pouring in for the movie from all quarters, filmmaker Sukumar shared a poem in Telugu to appreciate how much he enjoyed RRR. He also said that he could never make such a film.
“Even though we are next to you, we have to run to reach you. Even though we are in the sky, we need to lift up our heads to look at you," the Pushpa (2021) director wrote.
"The only difference between you and us, Rajamouli, is you can make a film like this and we can only watch it,” he added.
Commenting on Sukumar's Instagram post, Rajamouli wrote, "That is too much of an accolade Sukku. But I will accept all your love and crave for more. Thank you very much."
The film, which has been made on a budget of over Rs300 crore, had a grand worldwide release on 25 March.
RRR is a fictional story set in the 1920s and is based on the lives of two well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who are played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
RRR is Rajamouli’s first full-length period film. Like most of his films, it is a tale of revenge. In a promotional interview with Kabir Singh (2019) director Sandeep Vanga, Rajamouli said his films are mostly based on revenge because it’s the 'strongest emotion'.
The film, which has been dubbed and released in Hindi, features Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Samuthirakani and Shriya Saran.
RRR was supposed to be released in cinemas on 7 January. However, the release got postponed due to the sudden spike in COVID cases in the country.
