Smule Mirchi Music Awards pays tribute to Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri

The awards show, hosted by Sonu Nigam and co-hosted by singer-songwriter Neha Bhasin and singer-actor Meiyang Chang, will be telecast on 27 March at 9 pm exclusively on Colors Hindi and Voot.

The 14th edition of the Smule Mirchi Music Awards, which were held on 8 March, will be telecast on 27 March at 9 pm exclusively on Colors Hindi and Voot.

Hosted by singer Sonu Nigam and co-hosted by singer-songwriter Neha Bhasin and singer-actor Meiyang Chang, the awards show paid tribute to recently departed music legends Lata Mangeshkar and Bappi Lahiri.

Meet Bros and Khushboo Garewal came together to remember the Indian Disco King Bappi Da, while Shruti Pathak, Sneha Shankar and Jonita Gandhi joined Nigam to honour India’s nightingale Mangeshkar.

Veteran singer Suman Kalyanpur was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award.

The event featured performances by singer Lucky Ali on the 'best of indies', Bhasin on 'Indian wedding celebrations', and a love medley from couple Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet. Singers Shahid Mallya and Amit Misra, sisters Sukriti and Prakriti Kakkar as well as Indian American singer-songwriter Lisa Mishra also performed on the stage.

Besides the heartfelt tributes and performances, the awards show will showcase Akasa Singh, Antara Mitra and Zara Khan dancing to actress Karishma Kapoor’s hit songs. The couple Sugandha Mishra and Sanket Bhosale entertained audiences with their comedic banter.

The ceremony was attended by artistes Vidya Balan, Karishma Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Pratik Gandhi and Ila Arun, composers Anandji Virji Shah and Tanishk Bagchi, singers Sadhana Sargam, Papon and Javed Ali, filmmaker Ramesh Sippy and Miss India Manasa Varanasi, among others.
