Even after the emergence of social media and OTT platforms, cinema remains the most popular and influential medium of entertainment, especially in small towns.

The teaser for the upcoming multi-starrer parody Dil Dimag Aur Batti (2022), written and directed by Hrishikesh Gupte, takes us into the world of the making of cinema. The teaser plays more like an introduction video of its characters without giving anything away of the plot.

The teaser opens with a scene where Kishore Kadam's character is offering Rs5 lakh to a filmmaker (Anand Ingle) to make a movie. Ingle seems to be playing one of those dubious filmmakers who take advantage of naive people to get funds for their projects. The framed photographs in his office of him with former US president Barak Obama and Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio are enough to give you an idea of his personality.

The teaser introduces many other artistes, including Sonali Kulkarni, Pushkar Shrotri, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Vandana Gupte, Sakhee Gokhale and Sanskruti Balgude. Dilip Prabhavalkar seems to be playing a senior citizen who is trying to fulfil his dream of becoming an actor after retirement.

The teaser claims that the film is a tribute to the golden of age of Indian cinema. But more than a tribute, it appears to be a self-aware and out-and-out parody that will also take a dig at the industry and its dubious methods.

Produced by SAA Creation, Dil Dimag Aur Batti is slated for release in theatres on 22 April 2022. Watch the teaser below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
