Me Vasantrao song ‘Lalana’: PL and Vasantrao Deshpande perform together

The song focuses more on the humorist PL Deshpande, who is portrayed in the film by Pushkaraj Chirputkar.

Pushkaraj Chirputkar and Rahul Deshpande in Me Vasantrao

A recent teaser for Nipun Dharmadhikari’s Me Vasantrao introduced the character of literary legend PL Deshpande, played by Pushkaraj Chirputkar, and his friendship with the renowned singer Vasantrao Deshpande, whose character is essayed by his grandson Rahul.

The song ‘Lalana’ from the film, which was released recently, shows both personalities performing together.

The song is part of a sangeet mehfil (musical soiree) where PL Deshpande is singing while Vasantrao, for a change, is playing the tabla. But at one point, Vasantrao takes over the song and continues for some time. This makes PL uncomfortable and there is a hint of his ego being hurt. It will be interesting to see how their relationship plays out in the film.

Coming to the audio, the song is a pleasure for the ears and Jidnyesh Vaze is the main reason for it. But Rahul Deshpande’s cameo when Vasantrao takes over is also a winning performance. Rahul himself has set Vaibhav Joshi’s rich lyrics to music.

Chirputkar and Rahul Deshpande not only appear in character but also share an unusual chemistry. The production design in terms of recreating the old-fashioned house is noteworthy.

Produced by Jio Studios, Me Vasantrao will be released in theatres on 1 April. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to see the film.
