Shweta Pagar played the lead for the first time in Sameer Ramesh Surve’s Shree Partner (2012), a film based on VP Kale’s iconic novel Partner.
Following this, she played the lead in a few more films but could not enjoy box-office success and recognition.
As far as the trailer for the upcoming Aashray (2022) is concerned, Pagar is the best part about it. Unfortunately, the promo as a whole does not work for a variety of reasons.
The trailer shows different tracks one after the other without any flow. Pagar’s character is seen as a collegian who gets close to another student (Amey Barve). He declares his love for her, but she has other priorities.
Then there is a track about Pagar's character becoming a single mother by picking up an abandoned infant and going on to face taunts from people around her.
The film stars veteran Nishigandha Wad as the protagonist’s stepmother. But the relationship is one of deep affection, not discord.
Apart from the lack of flow, the trailer feels outdated and lacklustre, in spite of the good performances by Pagar and Wad.
Aashray is directed by Ramesh Popat Nanaware and Santosh Sahebrao Kapase. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to see the film.
