Writer-director Neeraj Joshi’s light-hearted Gujarati science-fiction film Gajab Thai Gayo will be released in theatres on 7 April. The film stars Malhar Thakar, Pooja Jhaveri and Ujjawal Chopra. The Gujarati feature is being jointly distributed by UFO Moviez with Rupam Entertainment across pan India.

Gajab Thai Gayo is the first time that Tips Industries has associated itself with a Gujarati movie. Speaking about the association, Kumar Taurani, head honcho of Tips, said in a statement, “We are happy to associate ourselves with Gajab Thai Gayo. Music is the cornerstone of any successful film, be it Hindi, Gujarati or any other Indian regional language. In today’s times, the audience is smart. They do not bifurcate between regional cinema and Bollywood [Hindi cinema]. It is always about good content for them.”

The film sees Thakar play Bhagirath, a postgraduate from Princeton University, USA. He returns to Gujarat to work in one of the last few existing Gujarati-medium schools for free as he is eager to teach in a school of his mother tongue. He is obsessed with science and planets. During one experiment, he gets hold of a machine that helps him and the kids time travel and converse with aliens.

Jhaveri plays a young woman who works in the school. She has been cast opposite Thakar. She has also acted in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movies. Chopra was recently seen in a pivotal role in the second season of the Hindi web-series Apharan
