Earlier this year, Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi joined hands for the upcoming comedy-drama Selfiee. The film's makers have finally unveiled the names of its leading ladies: Diana Penty, Nushrratt Bharuccha.
The film's producer Karan Johar took to social media to announce that the actresses had come on board with a fun video that also features Akshay and Hashmi.
This is Bharuccha's second project with Akshay after the yet-to-be-released Ram Setu.
Directed by Raj Mehta, who previously directed Akshay in Good Newwz (2019), Selfiee is a Hindi remake of the Malayalam comedy-drama Driving Licence (2019).
Directed by Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr, the original film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran as a popular hero and Suraj Venjaramoodu as a motor vehicle inspector. Deepti Sati played the role of Prithviraj's wife whereas Miya George essayed the role of Suraj's wife.
In the Malayalam film, Deepti Sati, who played Prithviraj's wife, had very limited screentime, so it will also be interesting to see if the writers have given a larger role to the actress playing Akshay's wife.
The film, which went on the floors ten days ago, is being produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Prithviraj Productions, Magic Frames and Cape of Good Films.
Selfie is expected to be released in cinemas next year.
