The trailer of Ashfaque Nipun’s upcoming Hoichoi series Sabrina tells the story of a female doctor, who puts up a fight to protect the rights of her patient, a woman, who sustained burn injuries.
The show depicts the numerous challenges a woman faces while fighting for her rights.
Doctor Sabrina (Mehazabien Chowdhury), while tending to the patient (Nazia Haque Orsha), learns that she is also called Sabrina. Intrigued by her namesake’s case, Sabrina tries to reach out to her husband (Intekhab Dinar) but he is nowhere to be found. As Sabrina grows suspicious of her patient’s husband, the story of the latter's troubled marital relationship is hinted at.
However, Sabrina is not convinced that her patient was set on fire because her husband was jealous of her friendship with another man. It is gradually revealed that the victim had confronted an influential man (Monir Khan Shimul) as the latter took over her land illegally. As Sabrina digs deeper into the case to ensure that her patient receives justice, she faces threats and challenges. The undaunted doctor eventually realizes that by setting her on fire, her patient’s enemy tried to break her fighting spirit. But Sabrina refuses to back down.
Along with strong performances, the trailer promises a powerful story that explores the theme of women’s empowerment.
Sabrina will be premiered on Hoichoi on 25 March.
