Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files (2022) has been showing unusual growth at the box office, with collections rising with each passing weekday when the opposite usually happens.

The movie made a massive Rs18.25 crore nett yesterday, as compared to Rs17.75 crore on Tuesday, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The Kashmir Files stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Pallavi Joshi and Bhasha Sumbli. Its overall collection is now Rs77.50 crore nett. The film was made on a modest budget of Rs14 crore.

The secret of the film's success is the open support it has been receiving from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with prime minister Narendra Modi himself vouching for it and party politicians booking tickets in bulk across the country and distributing them to workers and even ordinary citizens.

The Akshay Kumar-starrer Bachchhan Paandey is all set for release tomorrow. The film has got a wide release across India. While Akshay Kumar is a BJP favourite, it remains to be seen how the Farhad Samji movie fares in the wake of the concerted political campaign to promote The Kashmir Files.
