The upcoming Punjabi-language feature film Lekh (2022), starring Gurnam Bhullar and Tania, features a high-school romance. The first song from the film, ‘Udd Gaya’, was released on YouTube two days ago. Beginning with the notes of a piano, the romantic melody has been written and composed by Jaani.
Sung by B Praak, who has also provided the music, the song features the lead artistes as schoolchildren. Bhullar has lost a lot of weight for the part. The setting is of a village where Bhullar and Tania's characters attend high school together.
Bhullar is a lad who secretly watches Tania dance. He is enraptured by her. She finds out and asks him to go away, but he is delighted with the attention.
Thereafter we see Bhullar repeatedly falling off his bicycle as he gets distracted all the time imagining her dancing everywhere, even in his dreams!
Shot in slow motion, the song is about the beginnings of falling in love and being smitten by someone.
Directed by Manvir Brar, Lekh has been written by Jagdeep Sidhu and is set to be released in cinema halls on 1 April. Watch the song 'Udd Gaya' below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
Correction, 25 March 2022: An earlier version of this report described the film as a high-school romance. The romance is only a part of the film's story.
