Pravin Tarde's long-awaited historical epic Sarsenapati Hambirrao, which has been in the making for over three years, has finally got a release date.
The big-budget film will finally arrive in theatres on 27 May 2022.
Tarde, who is also playing the titular role, announced the release date via a poster on social media today. The poster features a muscular Tarde in a fierce avatar with a sword in one hand.
The film will clash with the Kangana Ranaut-starrer action thriller Dhaakad and Major, a biopic on the late NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
Along with directing and playing the titular role, Tarde has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues for the film. Hambirrao Mohite was a commander in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army and later served under his son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji. His daughter Tarabai was married to Shivaji's son Rajaram.
Along with Tarde, the film also stars Upendra Limaye, Gashmeer Mahajani, Shruti Marathe, Mohan Joshi, Snehal Tarde, Raqesh Bapat, Ramesh Pardeshi, Devendra Gaikwad, Sunil Abhyankar, Suresh Vishwakarma and Kshitish Date.
Sarsenapati Hambirrao is being produced by Sandeep Mohite Patil, Dharmendra Bora and Saujanya Nikam.
