The first thing you notice about the trailer of Hero Of Nation Chandra Shekhar Azad is the grammatical error in the title. But by the time you finish watching this almost two-minute promo, this will be the least of your concerns.
Directed by Dhiraj Mishra and Raja Randeep Giri, the film, as the title indicates, is based on the life of the Indian freedom fighter and revolutionary Chandra Shekhar Azad, who is played by Ahmad Kabir Shadan.
Azad was a revolutionary, who like his associates Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, waged war on the British. The film seeks to recreate his life from his childhood till his death on 27 February 1931.
The amateurish nature of the film is noticeable from the very first frame. And as it keeps playing out, more red flags pop up.
From the recreation of the British Raj to the acting, everything appears sloppy. Shadan hams it up as the protagonist. The actor playing Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is blatantly miscast and has you in splits unintentionally. The only actor of some calibre is the veteran Raza Murad, who plays Azad’s father.
Produced by Bloomfair Production, Hero Of Nation Chandra Shekhar Azad will be released in theatres on 25 March.
