Veteran actor Anupam Kher revealed yesterday that actress Mahima Chaudhry had been battling breast cancer. Kher shared a video on Instagram in which Chaudhry speaks about her ordeal and the recovery process.
In the video, Chaudhry narrates how Kher called her up a month ago from the United States to offer her a role in his 525th film, The Signature. At the time, the actress was in hospital surrounded by nurses, receiving treatment. The chemotherapy had resulted in her losing her hair. Not knowing her situation, Kher described the character to her and asked her to star in the film.
It was later that Chaudhry told Kher about her ailment.
Sharing a heartfelt note, Kher wrote, “I called Mahima Chaudhry a month back from the US to play a very important role in my 525th film The Signature. Our conversation turned to her discovering that she has breast cancer. What followed is in this candid conversation between us. Her attitude will give hope to so many women all over the world.”
Kher is glad Chaudhry chose him to reveal her story to the world. “She wanted me to be part of her disclosing about it," he wrote. "She calls me an eternal optimist but dearest Mahima! You are my Hero! Friends! Send her your love, warmth, wishes, prayers and blessings. She is back on sets where she belongs. She is ready to fly. All those producers/directors out there! Here is your opportunity to tap on her brilliance! Jai ho to her!!”
Chaudhry shared Kher’s video and post and wrote, “Thank you dear Anupam Kher for your love and support!” The two are currently shooting for the film in Lucknow.
