Heeramandi is Bhansali's maiden web-series. The show is set in Heeramandi in Lahore in pre-Independent India and it will explore the lives of courtesans. The show will portray stories of “love, betrayal, succession and politics in the kothas".
Interestingly, a fictitious version of Heeramandi was depicted in Dharma Productions’ romantic drama Kalank (2019).
