The trailer of Sudeep Das’s upcoming film Kuler Achaar was launched at the government-sponsored film and cultural centre Nandan in Kolkata in the presence of the cast and crew on 29 June.
Starring Madhumita Sarcar and Vikram Chatterjee, Kuler Achaar also marks the return of actress Indrani Haldar to the big screen after almost five years.
Kuler Achaar tells the story of Mithi (Sarcar), who refuses to change her surname after marriage. Haldar plays the character of Mithi’s mother-in-law in the film. Inspired by Mithi's determination to stand by her decision, she decides to use her maiden name. To Mithi’s father-in-law (Sujan Mukherjee), their decision comes as a threat to the patriarchal structure of the family. Mithi’s husband Pritam (Chatterjee), on the other hand, tries hard to save the home from falling apart.
“It feels great to be back after such a long gap,” said Haldar. “The message of the film is extremely insightful, every woman will relate to it and find the relevance of it in any situation in their life. The film is crafted with love and emotions and I shall keep it for the audience to find our journey on 15th July,” she added.
Sarcar and Chatterjee’s chemistry in the film has created a buzz since the release of the first song ‘Bhul Koreche Bhul’. “We are extremely thrilled and elated to be a part of this wonderful project. The first song of the film has already garnered a huge response and we really hope that our film is also appreciated. Really looking forward to it,” the actors said in a statement.
Speaking of his first project with producers SVF Entertainment, the director said, “I am overwhelmed to be a part of this wonderful venture. Seeing such responses really makes my heart full. I really hope the audience will watch our film on the big screen and shower their love and blessings.”
