Actor Sanjay Dutt seems to have mastered the art of essaying negative characters on screen. The audience is still not over his performance as the menacing Adheera in the blockbuster KGF Chapter 2 (2022).

In the upcoming Shamshera, Dutt plays the antagonist Shuddh Singh who’s ruthless and tortures people in the jail. “Karan Malhotra [the director] creates such weird villains and I don’t know what he sees in me to give me such villains like Kancha Cheena and Shuddh Singh. This character is very dangerous.”

Dutt also said that despite being negative and ruthless, Singh is different from Adheera. “Shuddh Singh is more fun despite being dangerous. The character in KGF 2 was more intense. What I didn’t like doing was hitting Ranbir with a whip in the film’s climax. That was not nice. And if I’d actually slapped Vaani, she wouldn’t be sitting here,” laughed Dutt at the film’s trailer launch event.

But the actor is extremely thrilled to not only share screen space with Ranbir Kapoor but also to see him in a film like this. “I was dreaming to see Ranbir in a film like Shamshera,” he said.

Shamshera is set to be released on 22 July.
