Box office: Jugjugg Jeeyo sees a drop in numbers on first Monday

Director Raj Mehta’s Jugjugg Jeeyo had a decent first weekend at the box office, making Rs35 crore nett. It was necessary for the film to perform well on Monday. 

But the comedy, which stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, saw a drop in numbers yesterday, collecting Rs4.50 crore, according to the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

As per trade sources, Jugjugg Jeeyo was made at a budget of Rs90-95 crore. Its total stands at Rs39.50 crore. Hence, it has a steep mountain to climb before it can be called a hit.

Jugjugg Jeeyo’s worldwide box office performance has been somewhat better. The multi-starrer clocked the third-highest opening weekend of the year worldwide, making Rs59.50 crore in the first three days. The first two spots are held by Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 [Rs83 crore] and Gangubai Kathiawadi [Rs65 crore]. 

However, making it to the list isn’t a major achievement because few Hindi films have done well this year.
