Amol Kolhe returns as Shivaji in yet another historical drama, Shivpratap Garudjhep

Amol Kolhe is ready to return as Chhatrapati Shivaji, the 17th century Maratha warrior king, in yet another historical drama titled Shivpratap Garudjhep.

The film will be helmed by Kartik Kende and produced by Kolhe under his own banner Jagdamb Creations.

Kolhe announced the film on social media with a short clip featuring his voiceover. The film is based on the historical event of Shivaji's crafty escape from Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's captivity in Agra.

Apart from the lead actor and director, the makers have kept details of the cast and crew under wraps.

Kolhe seems to be planning to create his own Maratha cinematic universe to rival that of filmmaker Digpal Lanjekar. This is his second film based on events from Shivaji's life after Shivpratap Waghnakh, which is also being helmed by Kende. That film is based on the killing of the feared Adilshahi general Afzal Khan, an event that was also the subject of Lanjekar's Sher Shivraj (2022), which was released in April this year.
