Disney+ Hotstar has dropped the trailer for its upcoming web-series Shoorveer (2002), where the brightest and strongest officers of the air force, navy and army form an elite task force which can take on any kind of threat.
The trailer begins with Makarand Deshpande and Manish Chaudhari coming with the idea of forming the task force after a failed mission. They shortlist a few officers who then go through rigorous specialized training to prove their worth.
Regina Cassandra, Anjali Barot, Aadil Khan and Armaan Ralhan seem to be playing major roles in the series. The trailer also indicates that we will also get to see some internal politics, jealousy and ego clashes between different teams.
Also, it seems apparently one can't make a film or series on the valour of Indian defence forces without the mandatory line 'Yeh Naya Hindostan Hai' (This is new India), which itself has become old.
Neither the plot nor the visuals have the x-factor. It also doesn't help that in the past few years, there have been far too many action-packed military-based films and shows that explore the theme of patriotism. The only exciting part about the trailer was the aerial stunts which look quite decent, and it's evident that the makers have put some effort into making everything look as authentic as possible within their budget constraints.
Talking about the show, its creator, Samar Khan, said, “Shoorveer was visualized with the idea of presenting an intense drama of actions and emotions. The show carries characters that have a strong emotional connection which I feel is a very critical element of our armed forces. It's been a dream to make a show that brings all the three forces together and with Shoorveer, Disney+ Hotstar gave us that opportunity."
Actor Manish Chaudhari stated that this show is an ode to the training our forces undergo to become a shield against threats. "For me, playing this part was an overwhelming experience. The journey of living this character has personally been inspiring for me. I can’t wait to see how the audience reacts when the show is released on Disney+ Hotstar.”
Backed by Juggernaut Productions, created by Samar Khan and directed by Kanishk Varma, the fictional drama series will be streamed in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali from 15 July.
