Judaa Hoke Bhi, which has been penned by Mahesh Bhatt and directed by Vikram Bhatt, marks the reunion of the filmmakers two decades after their hit horror film Raaz (2002).
The upcoming film revolves around a woman (Aindrita Ray) who gets possessed by an evil spirit that her husband (Akshay Oberoi) must ward off.
Oberoi plays a washed-out composer-singer who now spends his days downing alcohol. His wife is fed up with their constant bickering and takes up a job as a ghostwriter for a reclusive rich guy (Meherzan Mazda) who lives in a big mansion in the middle of nowhere.
She soon gets possessed by the entity and now her husband is up against not just paranormal forces but also his wife's employer who also seems to have developed feelings for her. The trailer indicates that he has to put his life on the line to save his spouse.
Oberoi stated that working on this special project was a very fulfilling experience for him. He said, "The film comes from the director and writer duo of Raaz and is another tale of love and fear, which makes it all the more interesting. Vikram Bhatt is a visionary director and it was fun to be part of his film. Vikram told me he wanted to reinvent himself and I think that's exactly what he did with Judaa Hoke Bhi. Making a comeback to this genre after Pizza (2014) is thrilling".
Judaa Hoke Bhi was earlier titled Cold and had Anisha Pahuja as the female lead but she was later replaced by Ray.
Produced by Mahesh Bhatt, Kay Sera Sera Productions and Vikram Bhatt, the film is slated to be released on 15 July.
