Taapsee Pannu gets starstruck around sports personalities

The trailer for Shabaash Mithu (2022) has hit the ball right out of the park. Taapsee Pannu, who is essaying the titular role of Mithali Raj, former captain of the India women’s cricket team, is getting rave reviews already.

Pannu has always been an ardent sports fan and loves playing outdoor and indoor games. In fact, she has always been starstruck around sports personalities. “I hadn’t seen many movies while growing up until college but I have followed sports since childhood,” the actress said.

“So, whenever I see a sports star, I am always starstruck, which comes with the huge amount of respect that I have for each of them. I always ensure that I don't cross a line when I have a sports star around me and avoid being my usual chirpy self."

Shabaash Mithu also deals with the discrimination against women in cricket which continues to be perceived as a gentleman’s game. But Mithali Raj fought against the odds and the Indian women’s team won the World Cup in 2005 under her leadership.

Pannu is known for some hard-hitting roles and this one seems to be yet another in that list. Shabaash Mithu is directed by Srijit Mukherji and will be released on 15 July. Watch the trailer below.
