Taapsee Pannu, who will take to the pitch as cricketer Mithali Raj on 15 July in Shabaash Mithu (2022), is looking forward to the world premiere of Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa (2022) at the London Indian Film Festival on 23 June.

The new-age thriller, produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, will open the festival tomorrow and is due to be released in Indian theatres on 19 August.

The film marks Kashyap and Paanu's second outing after Manmarziyaan (2018); the actress plays a character “trapped between two lives in different decades”. Dobaaraa is reportedly adapted from Oriol Paulo’s Spanish film Mirage (2018).

Speaking about the premiere, Pannu said, “I am really looking forward to seeing the first audience reaction. It's going to be quite nerve-racking because it's the first time [an] open audience is watching the film. So yes, I am excited, but I am equally nervous now. But [it’s] London, that makes everything feel a little better.”

Dobaaraa is the first film under the aegis of Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures's new division, Cult Movies, which tells compelling, edgy and genre-bending stories.
