Diljit Dosanjh pays tribute to Sidhu Moosewala in Vancouver

The singer-actor is currently on his Born to Shine tour.

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh, who is currently on tour with his Born to Shine concert, has paid tribute to Sidhu Moosewala, the young singer-actor from Punjab who was recently murdered in the state.

There has been an outpouring of grief in the Punjabi community for him and Dosanjh spoke about the love for Moosewala in peoples’ hearts.

Dosanjh shared a short clip of the tribute during his performance in Vancouver on Instagram and received an overwhelming response.

With a larger social message woven into the tribute, Dosanjh sang about the ways in which people give negative comments at the drop of a hat for fame and attention.

He appealed to the Punjabi community to be united and not point fingers and criticize each other. “There are many who are looking to divide us”, he said, “They are trying very hard to divide us, so let us not fight amongst ourselves”.

The background to this segment of the show read, “This show is dedicated to our brothers”. In his tribute, Dosanjh said that Moosewala’s name was etched in hearts and it would take a mammoth effort for anyone to erase it. The crowd gives a deafening cheer on hearing the late singer’s name, a testimony to his massive popularity.
