Actor Kamal Haasan’s latest release Vikram, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil and Suriya, has set the cash registers on fire, emerging as the highest-grossing film of all time in Tamil Nadu after dethroning SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017).

The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has grossed over Rs350 crore worldwide.

Vikram, which was also dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam, stars Kamal as former agent Vikram who sets out to avenge the death of his son, an undercover officer in the narcotics bureau.

Industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai took to Twitter on Monday to confirm that Vikram had overtaken the lifetime collection of Baahubali 2 in Tamil Nadu. The SS Rajamouli film held the record for five years.

Meanwhile, the entire team is buoyed by the film’s success. Recently, Kamal met the media in Chennai and said he was thrilled with the response to the movie. He said that success would only motivate them to work harder on their next collaboration.

He thanked Suriya for accepting the offer to play a 10-minute cameo in the movie. The actor plays an antagonist called Rolex.

Kamal Haasan and Lokesh will reunite for the next part of the franchise next year.
