In the trailer for the second season of the Hoichoi series Rudrabinar Obhishaap, protagonist Alap (Vikram Chatterjee) states that a mystery that was seen in a related show Tansener Tanpura (2020), the first story of the franchise, has its origin in a cursed Rudra veena.
Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, this season revolves around the efforts of Alap and Shruti (Rupsa Chatterjee) to uncover the truth behind the growing threat to the musicians of Anandagarh and also reveals more about the mysterious Naad Shankar Das (Sourav Das), a character introduced in the first season of Rudrabinar Obhishaap.
The trailer begins with visuals of the characters Noor and Salamat’s last rites and Shruti suspects their deaths are unnatural. The elderly instrument maker Bahadur (Debesh Roy Chowdhury) then reveals that since Naad arrived in Anandagarh, the region has lost its peace.
The narrative then delves into Naad’s past and traces the course of his growing rivalry with Alap. The latter senses an impending attack on Shruti and Saaz (Ditipriya Roy), another character introduced in the previous season. In the end, the trailer prepares the audience for a showdown between Alap and Naad.
The trailer comes across as confusing with too many subplots going on at the same time. Also, this season seems to be more about Alap and Shruti’s investigation than the story’s connection with music, except for some metaphorical references.
Speaking of the upcoming season, actor Vikram Chatterjee said, “I am super excited to once again come on screen as Alap and bring to the audiences Rudrabinar Obhishaap Part 2, this time with new adventures, experiences and music of course! This season was particularly exciting to work on as the audience’s love had definitely pumped us up to give our best and bring to them another chapter of Alap and Shruti.”
According to the director, the best reward for a creator is when the audience loves their content. “In this case, the anticipation, excitement and eagerness for Rudrabinar Obhishaap’s second season have seriously been overwhelming in the best way possible. This has also motivated the entire team to work extra hard and deliver their best. Honestly, I am as excited as the audience is for the new season,” added Mukherjee.
Rudrabinar Obhishaap (Season 2) will be streamed on Hoichoi from 1 July.
