Nowadays it has become de rigueur for cine artistes to resort to wacky tactics to promote their movies. Television actress Deepika Singh, who is set to make her feature film debut with Titu Ambani (2022), banked upon a stunt based on a popular mythological tale to promote her film.
At a recent press conference in Mumbai, the actress raised her on-screen mother (Samta Sagar) and father (Virendra Saxena) on her shoulders like the devoted son of legend Shravan Kumar.
The film, which also stars Tushar Pandey, revolves around Mosami (Deepika) and Titu (Pandey) who play a married couple. Titu plans to set up a business and seeks monetary help from his wife because he believes a husband has as much right to his wife’s earning as she has to his income.
But this creates a rift between the two because the devoted daughter Mosami believes it is her responsibility to first secure her parents' lives with her earnings.
The actress said, "We talk of the equality of girls and boys in modern society, but in practice it is not so. Can girls fulfil their responsibility towards their parents after marriage?"
Titu Ambani is Chhichhore (2019) and Aashram (2020) actor Pandey's first lead role in a movie. Speaking about his character, he said, "Titu is ambitious. He feels he is not meant for a job. He wants to become a big man and has big ideas for his business."
Titu Ambani is directed by Rohit Raj Goyal and produced by Mahendra Vijaydan Detha and Dinesh Kumar under the banner of Sabal Productions. In a joint statement, the producers said, "Titu Ambani talks about topics like the youth taking shortcuts for success and the rights and duties of girls in society. It also talks about the double standards in society in an entertaining way."
